I absolutely love granola, the crunchiness, nuttiness, perfect yogurt topping-ness. However, I’ve never found a shop bought granola that’s just right. The dorset cereal’s honey granola comes quite close but the coconut sadly ruins it for me.
Making granola is quick, easy and means you can make it just as you like it – sweet, nutty, fruity, crunchy! The basic mixture is rolled oats, maple syrup and honey and then you can add any combination of nuts, dried fruit and spices you’d like. I went for flaked almonds, pecans, pistachios, sunflower seeds and cinnamon.
Not only does granola make a great breakfast, it also makes a yummy snack and a perfect topping for ice cream or fruit. We had left over nectarines left so I removed the stones, placed them on a baking tin and drizzled with honey, topped with granola and marzipan and baked for 15 minutes at 180 degrees.
